What is this project?
For this project, I crafted a brand identity for Lana Del Rey's conceptual album Wild West, utilizing Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to create a unique and bold design. The project involved developing both the visual identity for the album and a poster campaign that would resonate with Lana Del Rey’s target audience while also capturing a fresh, modern aesthetic. I carefully crafted the album’s artwork to reflect the themes of the Wild West and Lana Del Rey's musical style, combining elements of vintage Americana with contemporary design trends. After developing the album cover design, I also created a poster campaign that expanded on these visuals, promoting the album in a visually cohesive and attention-grabbing way.
How did I prepare?
To prepare for this project, I began by conducting research into Lana Del Rey’s previous albums, her branding, and the cultural imagery associated with the Wild West. I wanted to ensure that the design aligned with her existing identity while introducing something fresh and exciting for her fans. I sketched initial ideas and developed mood boards to explore different visual directions. Once I settled on the concept, I created the album artwork in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, focusing on typography, color palette, and iconography to evoke the Wild West theme. I participated in multiple critique sessions during the design process, incorporating feedback to refine the visuals and make the overall design more impactful.

What were my results and lessons?
The final result was a cohesive brand identity for Wild West that successfully captured the essence of the album's themes and Lana Del Rey’s artistic persona. The album cover and poster designs were well-received in critique sessions for their creativity and alignment with the artist's brand. The challenge of merging vintage Americana with contemporary visuals pushed me to think outside the box, and through the iterative process, I refined my design skills, particularly in the areas of typography and visual composition. The project also underscored the importance of audience-centric design, as I made sure the visuals appealed to Lana Del Rey’s fanbase while presenting something new and exciting. This experience taught me valuable lessons in design iteration, the importance of critique, and the power of creating a strong visual identity that resonates with a specific audience.
